The Importance of Professional Hydro Jetting

Clogged and slow-moving drains are always a problem, yet high-pressure hydro jetting in San Diego for drain cleaning and drain maintenance can take care of that for good.  The usual drain snaking (cabling) is often just not enough.  For both residential and commercial buildings alike, our clients are often surprised by what a difference thoroughly cleaning drain pipes and sewer lines can make.

Why Drain Cabling Is Not Enough

“FOG” — fats, oils, and grease — solidify and start lining the insides of your pipes.  That in turn traps food particles and other debris.  Over time grease and grime build up, eventually blocking the pipe.  Regular drain snaking just pokes a hole through that buildup, a hole that can quickly fill back in (sometimes by even a single food scrap).  If you keep having to call in a drain cleaning service, this is probably the problem.

Just What is Hydro Jetting?

Jetting uses high pressure water jets that fully removes accumulated deposits, even heavy build ups, leaving your pipes as clean as they were when new.  The special truck-mounted heaters and pumps may be driven by electricity or gas, or diesel powered.  Water at some 7,000 PSI (pounds per square inch) are sent down a long special hose and then out special jetting nozzles that are gradually moved further and further into your drain pipes and sewer line.  Although it requires rather extensive special equipment, the process is quick and efficient.

The Special Benefits of Hydro Jetting

High-pressure hot-water jetting fully cleans drain pipes, with lasting results.  It fully restores flow and greatly reduces the likelihood of future clogs or slow draining sinks.  After clearing an existing problem, it’s a good idea to include hydro jetting in a maintenance program to nearly eliminate future problems.  It’s also a great preventive step as part of a move-in, bathroom addition, or remodel.

For Homeowners

Besides clearing a problem and pushing any likely repeat far into the future, you’ll also enjoy faster draining sinks, tubs, showers.  If you’ve ever noticed any foul drain odors, those should be gone as well.  Drain problems often seem to happen at the worst possible time, and considering holiday cooking that might not be just coincidence.  Annual jetting can reduce those odds to near zero.

For Business Owners

For commercial buildings, avoiding disruptions and down time due to drain problems is even more important.  Plus there are the possibilities of sanitation problems and inspection fines.  For restaurants or any facility where food is prepared or served, as well as high-end establishments devoted to the best in client comfort, hydro jetting can be a life saver.  As part of a plumbing inspection and maintenance program, it just might mean you’ll never experience a major clog again.
