A property management company sent ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing a work order for a possible leak in a tenant’s wall when the sink would run in her kitchen. The tenant reported that she could not see any visible signs of a leak in her unit. The leak was coming from unit #210 to the downstairs unit, #101.
The ASAP technician found that the leak coming from the 2″ cast iron line in the bathroom ceiling in unit #101. To do the repair, the technician replaced the 2″ cast iron pipe where the leak was located. He installed a new Y, 90, and a section of ABS pipe. He then ran the water to test for leaks and there are no signs of leaks at this time. The tech cleaned the work area.
The ASAP technician also unclogged the kitchen sink. He ran the 1/4″ snake cable several times until the line was cleared. He then ran the water to test for clogs but the line is clear and properly functioning. Lastly he cleaned up the work area.
It was recommended to the management company that the hall cast iron be replaced with ABS piping because it is in poor condition and will eventually leak. The 2″ cast iron is reduced to less than 1″ due to corrosion.
