A property management company contacted ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing because their tenant complained of a gas smell coming from the pipes next to their garage door opener.
The ASAP technician used the gas sniffer to do a leak detection. He found gas coming from the riser before entering into the house. The tech called the property manager to inform them of his findings. They authorized ASAP to perform the spot repair.
The technician came back to the job site the following day. He moved rocks and stepping stones out of the way. He dug approximately 3 feet to expose 1 1/4″ PVC gas line. He then cut out the broken section of the gas pipe and used a new schedule 80 1 1/4″ to connect the existing gas line. Next he installed a new 1 1/4″ galvanized riser with new isolation valve, connected the new galvanized riser to the existing gas line going into the home.
The gas meter was turned back on. The tech tested for leaks but there are no leaks at this time. He then turned on the pilot light to the water heater. Next the tech backed filled the dirt. Lastly he cleaned up the work area.
