A property manager called ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing during after hours for an emergency leak in the ceiling above a tenant’s bathtub. They had shut the water supply off to the building.
Upon arrival, the technician saw that the drywall was cut and piping was exposed. The piping was 1/2″ CPVC pipe that may have not had sufficient glue, gave out, and then flooded the unit. ASAP does not recommend using CPVC piping indoors for this reason. The tech re-glued the piping and waited for the glue to set. He turned the water back on and verified there were no leaks.
The technician also notice that the 2″ backflow gave out and water was pouring from the drain line. He attempted to flush out the backflow and clean the diaphragm but was unsuccessful. The property manager did not want the water turned off all night so the technician called the parts store and was able to purchase and install a new backflow. He tested for leaks and proper function. There are no leaks and the system is working properly at this time. Lastly the technician cleaned up the work area.
