A property management company called ASAP Drain Guys & Plumbing because of a leak in tenant’s bathroom in Oceanside, CA. ASAP performed a leak detection after hours and determined there was a main line hot leak.
This two-person job required the ASAP techs to remove the vanity in unit #17 order to gain access to the manifold system. The tech jackhammered a small area in order to repair the leak. He pinpointed the source of leak to be behind the toilet in unit #19. He then pulled the toilet and jackhammered and excavated approximately 2 feet to expose the copper piping. The tech found the leak in the 1 1/4″ copper hot mainline. The pipe was also in poor condition.
The tech had to tunnel approximately 4 feet under the vanity in order to tie into the manifold system. He installed approximately 6 feet of new 1 1/4″ type L copper piping. After the repair was complete, the tech pressurized the system to ensure there were no leaks. There are no leaks at this time. A concrete patch was placed over the hole behind the toilet. The toilet was not to be reset until the concrete had dried. Maintenance would reset the toilet as well as the vanity once the drywall was repaired. Finally, the techs cleaned up the work area.
